BRICK HOUSE FOUNDERS
Doug Tunnell & Melissa Mills

Before exchanging vows under the monumental pine tree beside the Brick House, Melissa Mills and Doug Tunnell had spent years working as broadcast journalists; Melissa in the Pacific Northwest for ABC affiliates, Doug as a foreign correspondent for CBS News.

They shared a professional history…but they also shared a deep appreciation for Mother Nature, both having grown up hiking and camping in Oregon’s forests and river valleys.  Doug’s childhood was spent fishing and boating amid the log rafts of the Willamette river, downstream from two belching paper mills at Willamette Falls.  Melissa’s family breathed the crisp, clean air of the mountain town of Ashland, Oregon, on the edge of the Siskyou range.

An intuitive understanding of nature’s awesome complexity but also its extreme fragility were childhood gifts…gifts that sustain Melissa and Doug’s commitment to regenerative farming and winegrowing to this day.

 SAVANNAH MILLS

ASSISTANT WINEMAKER

In 2013, Savannah joined the harvest crew looking for life outside the corporate world. Enchanted by the creative side of winemaking, she dove in. Following a harvest in New Zealand, she returned to the Brick House cellar for more hands-on learning, taking on the role of Assistant Winemaker in 2018. Today, she leads our rosé program and production team as well as making a little wine of her own.

 KERRY ERWIN

After working on farms locally and abroad, Kerry joined the harvest crew in 2013. With a degree in Environmental Studies and a love of gardening, she is a natural fit for the farm. Through the years her top-notch organizational skills have elevated the customer service and sales operations. Today, she expertly runs our Tasting Experiences and Direct Sales team. Her dog, Tillie, can often be found chasing squirrels and digging holes.
