At the end of the day, the balance of elements that make Ribbon Ridge more difcult to distinguish than Eola-Amity Hills or Dundee Hills would probably make it Goldilocks’ favourite AVA. The tannins aren’t too soft or too firm (provided extraction is gentle), the fruit isn’t too ripe or too crisp, and the acidity isn’t too low or too high …
Their converted barn in one of the upper reaches of the Ribbon Ridge AVA at 400–500 ft (120–150 m) elevation is the most congenial winery I think I have ever visited with its beautiful rugs on the floor and antiques everywhere.
Their care in nurturing the land can be felt in their wines, both pinot noir and chardonnay, and their southeast facing slopes achieve a perfect balance of ripeness, freshness and structure in the wines.
These wines are lively and energetic, delicious and affordable, and consumers can be proud to support the (more than) sustainable farming at Brick House.
